What are you working on?

Lover’s Lane Shawl

I’ve been working hard lately. The shawl I was designing and working on in October knit up so fast. The Lover’s Lane Shawl is now live! What a wild ride that was. It was a pleasure to knit and I’m sad it’s over. As a knitter, you’ll know, when you get a yarn that is so buttery soft, and feels good in your hands, you don’t want the project to end. That Cashmere sock yarn is the best. Lover’s Lane Shawl is a 3 skein, fingering weight, top-down triangle shawl, with easy lace and texture stitches. It’s perfect, and turned out so well.

Just a little pic of my Le Triangle: Granny shawl. The big reveal will come when it’s all finished.

After releasing the Lover’s Lane Shawl I immediately started working on Le Triangle: Granny pattern. It’s a crochet granny triangle and is perfect for using scraps. I went through my scraps and crocheted it up in less than 2 weeks. There’s something special about going through your scraps and working with them. Whilst having a pedicure last week (a birthday present from a cose friend), I was crocheting some rows with yarn that I had used in a shawl I designed for her for Christmas. The memories of designing the shawl, the place of inspiration that it came from, came flooding back. It’s not quite finished yet, I have 2 rows left and the border. Currently I’m waiting for some yarn to finish a Christmas present, and will have some left over, so I am going to use those 2 colours as the last 2 rows, and then do the border. There’s significance to the colours that I’m using, so as much as I want it to be finished, I’m patiently waiting. Once the yarn arrives, I will be able to finish crocheting the last 2 rows and border in one sitting. Normally, I’ve not always been happy with how my scrappy projects have worked up, but I’m pleasantly surprised by this one.

Up next, I am taking a little break from designing for a hot minute. I have lots of design ideas, but when you have an idea come through and download with an image so clear, and knit it up so quickly, it’s draining. 2 years ago I designed and knit a shawl/wrap, but I never released the pattern. Going back to looking at the pattern for release, I discovered that I was struggling to read my own pattern, so I am going to take the time to edit my pattern before I release (hoping for a Dec 1 release date). In the summer I started knitting a raglan cardigan in worsted weight wool, but we’ve had the warmest fall, temperatures into 20+ degrees in Ontario, and I have not wanted to knit with worsted wool. I am looking forward to getting back to knitting on my sweater and wearing it (even if I can’t imagine wearing a wool sweater as I write this on Nov 5, 2024 with a temperate of 19 degrees). Along with my cardigan, I’m also working on a cross-stitch, that I desperately want to finish and that’s it.
